We are happy to meet locally, or arrange for personal delivery. However due to biosecurity concerns we are unable to accommodate visitors to our home/farm.
For the safety of our animals we can not accommodate visitors at this time. We provide regular updates with pictures and sometimes videos.
We are happy to speak with you either via text, email or a scheduled call about your dog show needs, desires and goals.
We are often busy with the farm, puppies and shows. This means that we can not always answer the phone.
However we are happy to give you a call back or you can reach us via text, email or FB messenger. We can also schedule a time that would then work best for you so we can chat on the phone.
Yes, though we do have some local clients, we are always happy to work with you to get your pup to us so that we can show it to its best potential.
Limited registration means that you can not show your new puppy in conformation, and you can not breed your puppy.
You can Show in Obedience, Rally, Agility and performance sports.
Your puppy will be registered with the AKC. You will complete a registered name agreement and we will register and mail you all the paperwork.
The Russell Terrier is a slightly calmer and more laid back version of the Jack.
In the UK and many other countries, when they speak of the Jack Russell they are talking about what we call an AKC Russell Terrier.
We do not dock the tails on our Russell Terriers.
Vet after vet has assured me that puppies grow to fit the uterus, meaning that birth weight has more to do with the size of the litter. One factor is the size of the parents. When the puppies start eating solid food at about 4-5 weeks we begin to see them starting to take on their true weight.
Colors sometimes darken, facial markings, blazes, and collars can shrink with age and most colors will darken. When you pick your perfect color baby, know there will be surprises.
We can do our best to find a puppy for you that will have blue eyes. However eye color can change.
Most puppies' eyes have a mild blue tinge when they first open. The color of a puppy's eyes is not fixed until after the puppy is 16 weeks old. A puppy that appears to have blue eyes at 8 weeks may, when it's full grown, have either blue or brown eyes. Eye color can also be affected by their food and environment.
Our goal is to better the breed and be able to offer more families the joy that we find with our Shelties. We breed first for health, temperament, and then size.
Emails and texts are best. We are a working farm. And as much as we wish to communicate with you instantly we do not have working cell or Wi-Fi outside the home. Our days run simply. We rise early, care for the animals, eat breakfast and then address our daily communications. We once again address emails around the dinner hour. There are days we have inside work and communicate during the day. This should be considered the exception not the rule.
We perform genetic testing to determine that we are making the best choices in who is breed to whom.
We test our Shetland Sheepdogs for:
CEA (collie eye anomaly) MDR1 (multi drug sensitivity) DM (degenerative myelopathy) VWDlll (von willebrands disease).
CEA is a malformation of the retina.
MDR1 is a mutation that limits the body from being able to remove certain drugs and toxins from the body, including some common medications.
DM is similar to Lou Gehrig's disease it is a neurological disease, the onset often happening in the adult years.
VWDlll is a bleeding disorder similar to hemophilia, Affected dogs may develop life-threatening bleeding from an accidental injury or any surgical procedure.
We genetically test our Russell Terriers for:
CMO (Craniomandibular Osteopathy) DM (Degenerative Myelopathy) HUU (Hyperuricosuria) LOA (Late onset Ataxia) PLL (Primary Lens Luxation) SCID (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease) SCA (Spinocerebellar Ataxia) CMS ( Congenital Myasthenic Syndrome) CDDY (Chondrodystrophy (CDDY and IVDD Risk) with or with Chondrodysplasia)
We also test our Russell Terriers for:
Luxating Patellas, CERF eye tests and BAER hearing test.
